KitchenAid K45SS Classic 250 Watts Stand Mixer NR.

I received this as a wedding gift recently (I’d been wanting one for years). This is a marvelous mixer…better than other brands that I had used in the past. I would not only recommend this mixer (quality, ease of use, not to mention that it’s just soooo cool) but I know what I’ll be getting others for wedding gifts from now on. I swear I don’t know how I lived without my mixer. I was always afraid to make bread…not now. With my KitchenAid….all things are possible.

I received a white one for an early christmas gift and just used it for the first time on he christmas cookies that are a tradition in my family. In the past years, I’ve used my mother’s old stand-mixer, and I’ve also used a hand mixer, which is near impossible to do with this recipe. This year, I used my new mixer and I am blown away! These cookies, that usually take forever, were done in no time! And even though I didn’t think the 4 1/2 quart bowl would be big enough for the whole recipe, I had no problem and room to spare! It’s surprisingly deep. It also stayed relatively cool through the three batches of cookies I made (I’m used to beginning to smell smoke from my mothers!)

I only used the flat beater yesterday, but have some bread recpies that I’m dying to use the dough hook on.

Just a few concerns…The dough sticks to the side of the bowl, so I did have to stop from time to time and scrape it off, but that was nothing that I wasn’t used to. And you cannot attach a larger bowl to this mixer…the only other bowl you can attach is one of the same size with a handle.

And definately invest in a splash guard. You only get lemon extract in your eyes once to make that decision.

Bought this mixer in November 2005. Still making the best cakes and cookies ever. No problems. Buy the product to match the usage. This is an entry level stand mixer. Probably not made for the real heavy duty stuff. But for making batches of cookies or cakes, this works perfect for me. The chocolate chip recipe has made me a legend. I’ve modified it. The precise times in the recipe book are a big help. When this wears out, I won’t hesitate to buy another Kitchenaid.

I ordered this thru Amazon. This is my first KitchenAid mixer. Due to the popularity of the Brand name I thought I would like it better than my other mixers, the last being a Kenmore that you can’t get replacement parts for. The mixer does the job, I haven’t had the time to use the dough hook or whip. It is easy to use and clean and the price was right. As usual, I am very glad I used Amazon to make my purchase. It is the best web site to use, very quick and efficent.

I really do love this machine. I talked my aunt into buying one for me for a wedding present. Needless to say, the mixer has lasted longer than my marriage. I haven’t gotten any of the fancy attachments or extras. I just have the bowl, and the three basic attachments (paddle, whisk, and bread hook). Addmittedly, I think I’ve only used the bread hook a few times. I have a bread machine, so I just don’t need to use it. However, the mixer has enabled me to make hundreds and hundreds of cookies every winter holiday season. I also use it to make mashed potatoes and massive amounts of zucchini bread (you know,from those monster zucchini that get away from you in the garden). As a matter of fact, my mixer has helped to make my reputation of being an above average baker. My mixer has never let me down. It is heavy enough to mix the really tough doughs and fast enough to whip up egg whites. My only complaint is that the little handles on the “lock” and “speed” switches fell off almost immediatly. Not a big deal, but slightly irritating.

I bought this stand mixer for my grown son because he has expressed, forlornly, that he cannot make mashed potatoes like mine without a KitchenAid mixer. I purchased my KitchenAid stand mixer in 1975 and still use it religiously. I have no doubt that he will have an equally joyous experience with his mixer as I have had with mine.
